Colombian authorities dismantle criminal groups in Caldas and Tolima

Colombian authorities have dismantled criminal networks involved in drug trafficking and homicide in La Dorada, Caldas, and parts of Tolima. Following 10 raids conducted by the Fiscalía General de la Nación and the CTI, nine individuals were arrested, while four others were notified of judicial proceedings from prison.

The investigation focused on two rival groups, ‘La Línea’ and ‘La Contra’, which are reportedly engaged in a violent dispute over local drug distribution. This conflict is linked to at least nine homicides over the past year, including the targeted killing of a pregnant woman in April.

Investigators discovered that the organizations used commercial establishments, such as motorcycle workshops, to hide firearms and narcotics. Additionally, authorities found evidence that the groups utilized santería rituals and specific individuals to allegedly evade law enforcement. The criminal structures maintained surveillance networks and used motorcycles to facilitate nighttime mobility and selective killings.
