Colombian banks boost digital security as fraud rises; Nasdaq partners with Paraguay stock exchange
The Colombian financial system is confronting a sharp rise in digital fraud, with more than 300,000 fraud complaints recorded in the first half of 2025. The Association of Banking and Financial Entities of Colombia (Asobancaria) announced the rollout of stronger authentication measures, including multi‑factor authentication and biometric verification, which studies suggest can cut unauthorized access by over 99%.
Nasdaq’s Vice President of Market Technology, Carlos Patiño, outlined a new partnership with the Bolsa de Valores de Asunción to modernize Paraguay’s capital market. The collaboration will introduce international technology standards, improve market efficiency and transparency, and aim to attract foreign investors, especially in the agricultural sector. Patiño said, “Innovation opens the door to more investors.”
