Colombian cinema: AI discussions in Pasto and Joyce Ventura’s directorial debut
At the Pasto International Film Festival, filmmaker and academic Nico Rojas delivered a masterclass regarding the relationship between music and image. Rojas, who directs the film program at Universidad Central de Bogotá, also addressed the challenges posed by artificial intelligence in cinema, specifically highlighting concerns regarding authorship and the risk of aesthetic uniformity in AI-generated productions.
In Bogotá, filmmaker Joyce Ventura launched her first feature film as a director, titled ‘Tres hermanas’. After decades of working in production and editing for the Colombian film industry, Ventura’s new work explores themes of aging and mortality through the lives of her and her two sisters.
