Colombian citizen found dead in Villa de Reyes, Mexico
The State Attorney General's Office of San Luis Potosí has confirmed that the remains found in Villa de Reyes belong to Tatiana Vanessa Almanza García, a 32-year-old Colombian citizen. Almanza García had been reported missing since August 28 after traveling from Mexico City to San Luis Potosí.
Forensic studies determined the cause of death was asphyxiation by strangulation, occurring on the same day she disappeared. The body was discovered on September 1, wrapped in a rug and in an advanced state of decomposition. Identification was confirmed via a tattoo on her left arm bearing the name ‘Jerónimo,’ which matched descriptions provided by her family.
Authorities stated that forensic examinations showed no signs of sexual violence. An investigation is currently underway to determine if the case will be classified as a femicide, and prosecutors indicated they have leads regarding a possible suspect.
