Colombian destinations Boyacá, Cartagena, and Bogotá win World Travel Awards
Three Colombian destinations—Boyacá, Cartagena, and Bogotá—have received recognition at the 2026 World Travel Awards, highlighting the country's tourism industry.
Boyacá has been named the leading regional destination in South America for the second consecutive year, surpassing competitors in Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil. The department is noted for its historical towns, natural landscapes, and gastronomy, with key municipalities including Villa de Leyva, Monguí, Tibasosa, Iza, and Ráquira.
Additionally, the Serranía de Chiribiquete National Natural Park remains a significant natural and cultural asset for the country. Located in the Amazon region between the departments of Caquetá and Guaviare, this UNESCO Mixed World Heritage site covers over 4.2 million hectares. It is recognized for its immense biodiversity, its role in climate and water regulation, and its archaeological value, specifically the rock pictographs left by ancestral indigenous peoples.
