Colombian drug courier detained in Nacimiento, Chile

Police in the Biobío region arrested a 25‑year‑old Colombian national after a routine checkpoint on a collective taxi in Nacimiento revealed a transparent bag containing a container of cocaine. The driver, whose documentation was in order, was unaware of the concealed drug. In addition to the cocaine, officers seized 113,000 Chilean pesos in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. The suspect, identified as a participant in “narco delivery” operations, was taken to the Nacimiento police station and will appear before the public prosecutor, where his irregular immigration status will also be reviewed.

The case highlights ongoing preventive policing efforts by Carabineros in the province, targeting illicit trafficking methods that use ordinary transport services to move small drug quantities across the country.
