Colombian influencer Adriana Manotas Rodriguez dies after illegal cosmetic procedure in Bogotá

A 52‑year‑old Colombian lifestyle influencer, Adriana Manotas Rodriguez, died on 10 July after undergoing a liposuction procedure at an unregistered beauty establishment in Bogotá. The venue, registered as a spa, was found to be operating as a clandestine medical clinic without the required licenses.

Authorities—including the Prosecutor's Office, the Health Secretariat, and the National Police—conducted a raid, sealed the premises, and seized medical equipment such as a laser machine, camillas, medications and a recovery area. The investigation seeks to determine whether the illegal procedure caused her death. The location had previously been flagged and ordered to cease medical activities months earlier. Bogotá’s mayor condemned unregulated cosmetic clinics and urged the public to report similar sites.

The case highlights the dangers of underground aesthetic services and has prompted calls for stricter enforcement of health regulations in the capital.
