Two women – an anonymous journalist who worked for Rafael Poveda’s production company and lawyer‑activist Sofía Vela Mejía – publicly accused the veteran Colombian journalist of sexual harassment and abuse. The allegations, first published on 30 July by the #YoTeCreoColega collective and Brava News, describe unwanted physical contact, comments on Vela’s appearance and an invitation to Poveda’s apartment after a 2019 presentation‑course organized by his company. A formal complaint was filed with the Fiscalía General de la Nación. Poveda has denied the accusations, released an 18‑minute video defending his reputation, and said he will pursue legal defence. He is being represented by lawyer Wendy Herrera and her father José Luis Herrera Gómez. No judicial decision has been rendered; the case remains under investigation.
