Colombian local governments host peace labs and entrepreneurship training for conflict victims

In July, the Tunjuelito district of Bogotá organized a "Laboratorio de Paz" that gathered local entrepreneurs, artists and social groups to promote dialogue, collective memory and economic opportunities for victims of the armed conflict. Mayor Claudia Collante said the event shows the city's commitment to integral reparations through participation, memory and community development.

Separately, the municipality of Ipiales together with the national Victims Unit held a "Aprende a Emprender" workshop, providing practical training and personalised guidance to help conflict‑affected families launch sustainable micro‑enterprises. Subdirector William Suárez and official Diana Jurado highlighted that economic autonomy is a core component of the reparations agenda, aiming to improve livelihoods and strengthen social inclusion.

Both initiatives illustrate a growing focus in Colombia on combining peace‑building with entrepreneurship to foster economic recovery and social cohesion among those affected by the decades‑long conflict.
