Colombian Man Charged with Animal Cruelty in Facatativá

Miguel Gaitán was judicialized in late July by the Fiscalía General de la Nación for alleged animal cruelty. The investigation links him to the beating of a dog named Tobi in November 2022 in the municipality of Facatativá, Cundinamarca. Tobi died days later while undergoing surgery at a veterinary clinic.

The prosecutor presented evidence of the assault and the case now proceeds under the animal‑cruelty statute. Authorities emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents and pledged to continue gathering testimony and documentation to fully clarify the circumstances and identify any additional related cases.
