Bariloche seniors panel and Argentine events promote elder rights

The Bariloche Municipal Council and the Secretariat of Human Capital organized a public panel on June 30 to discuss revisions to the municipal charter with a focus on defending and expanding the rights of older residents. The event, held at the Edificio Polivalente, invited seniors, civic groups and officials to examine how proposed legal changes could affect the ageing community.

In Zamboanga City, the local Environment and Natural Resources Office launched a Wellness Program for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and retiring employees. The initiative provided basic health checks—including blood‑pressure, blood‑sugar and BMI measurements—to 43 participants, of whom 39 were seniors. It also featured recreational activities and recognition of retiring staff.

Río Cuarto concluded its "Month of Good Treatment to Older Persons" with a public forum that combined a bingo of ageist expressions and a theater‑forum. Organized by the provincial pension fund, the municipal government, the Ombudsman’s Office and the National University of Río Cuarto, the event highlighted the need to confront all forms of elder mistreatment and to foster respectful community ties.

In Bovril, the northern Entrerriano socio‑recreational meeting gathered more than 700 seniors. Minister Verónica Berisso and the Director of Adultos Mayores praised the gathering as “a true celebration of life,” distributing campaign material on good treatment and affirming the importance of active, healthy ageing across the province.
