Colombian municipalities advance livestock farm registration and sustainability programs
The mayor’s office in Suárez assisted the registration of 62 livestock properties with the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), covering cattle, pig, fish and poultry operations. The registration aims to improve sanitary oversight, traceability of animals and products, and disease monitoring.
In Cundinamarca, a new program will support up to 1,000 farms across 28 municipalities. The first phase targets 400 properties with seeds, pasture‑restoration inputs, silvopastoral trees and water‑use kits, promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly livestock production. The initiative is coordinated by CARyFEDEGAN and includes research support from the Autonomous University of Chapingo (Mexico).
