Colombian municipalities honor military and police veterans

Municipalities in Colombia have held recent events to honor veterans of the Public Force. In Popayán, the local administration commemorated Veterans Day with a ceremony involving the National Army and the Metropolitan Police. The event included floral offerings and a religious service held at the La Cabaña vacation center, a facility recently provided to the Association of Members of the Retired Public Force (AMIFUR) to serve as a dedicated space for veterans and their families.

In Dosquebradas, the municipality hosted the first ‘Veterans Week’ in Colombia. This five-day initiative, running from October 7 to 11, included the decoration of ten former members of the Army, Police, Navy, and Air Force. The program featured historical memory activities, public space beautification, and sporting events. The celebration was established following a municipal agreement to honor those who served the country and to recognize their ongoing contributions to society.
