Colombian municipalities pursue administrative reorganizations

The Personería Municipal de Pereira has approved an administrative reorganization to modernize its structure without increasing fiscal spending. Approved by the Municipal Council, the redesign aims to strengthen strategic areas such as planning, technology, financial management, and conciliation. The new structure will include a General Secretariat, a Financial Directorate, an Advisory Office for Planning and Technology, and a Center for Conciliation and Conflict Resolution.

In Cartagena, the Mayor's Office is advancing a political-administrative reorganization to create two new localities: Insular and Zona Norte. This initiative, part of the 2024-2027 Development Plan, seeks to decentralize decision-making and improve institutional presence in peripheral areas such as Barú, Pasacaballos, Bayunca, La Boquilla, and the Rosario Islands. The project is expected to be presented to the District Council in October, with the goal of appointing the first local mayor for the insular zone before the end of the year.
