Colombian national sentenced to prison for voter fraud and identity theft

Carlos Felipe Jaramillo-Grajales, a 55-year-old Colombian national, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for aggravated identity theft, making false statements, and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to vote in elections.

Prosecutors established that Jaramillo-Grajales stole an American citizen’s Social Security number to obtain a U.S. passport and a Florida driver’s license. These fraudulent credentials allowed him to register to vote and participate in the 2020 election, as well as several other elections.

In addition to the prison term, Jaramillo-Grajales received a federal deportation order, which will be executed by immigration officials upon the completion of his sentence.
