Colombian police capture ‘Los Costeños’ gang leader in Valledupar

Colombian National Police captured Ever Eduardo Camargo, known as alias ‘Ever’ or ‘Marino’, in Valledupar. Camargo is identified as a regional leader of the criminal organization ‘Los Costeños’.

Authorities allege that Camargo commanded a group of approximately 25 members operating across eight neighborhoods in Barranquilla. The group is accused of coordinating a network dedicated to extortion and contract killings, primarily targeting merchants, shopkeepers, and transporters.

President Abelardo De La Espriella described the operation as a “decisive blow” against the criminal structure, noting that the arrest impacts the organization's command and financial capabilities. The detained individual has been placed at the disposal of competent authorities to proceed with judicial processes.
