Colombian Police commemorate 73 years of female service
The National Police of Colombia is commemorating 73 years of female incorporation on October 26. Currently, there are 44,237 women serving in the institution nationwide.
The commemoration includes tributes to female officers who died in the line of duty and those who have been kidnapped while performing their duties. A significant focus of the current service is the work of specialized units, such as the Transnational Crimes Investigation Unit (TCIU) within the Directorate of Protection and Special Services (DIPRO).
Patrolwoman Jaira Pérez Martínez, from Altos del Rosario in Bolívar, has been highlighted for her work in digital investigation. She specializes in tracking and infiltrating networks involved in the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESCNNA) across social media and the dark web. Her work involves using forensic computer tools to dismantle transnational digital crime networks.
