Colombia deploys police across regions for Amor y Amistad security

Colombian authorities have implemented widespread security deployments across several regions to manage public order during the Amor y Amistad celebrations. In Magdalena, over 1,200 officers were mobilized, including 26 Purple Patrols specifically tasked with preventing gender-based and domestic violence.

In Bogotá, a specialized operation involves more than 400 police officers, utilizing drones, aerial surveillance via the Halcón helicopter, and 64 anti-brawl patrols to monitor high-traffic nightlife areas. Similarly, Valledupar has launched the ‘Se Celebra sin Violencia’ and ‘Rumba Segura’ campaigns to promote responsible celebrations and dialogue.

In the Valle de Aburrá region, including Medellín, the celebrations resulted in significant police activity, with 541 brawls addressed, 46 arrests made, and 884 citations issued for violations of the national coexistence code. Authorities emphasized the importance of moderation in alcohol consumption to prevent violence and ensure public safety during the holiday.
