Barranquilla establishes new Interpol office to combat transnational crime

The city of Barranquilla has inaugurated new facilities for the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol. The headquarters, located within the Metropolitan Police Command, aims to strengthen international cooperation to combat narcotics trafficking, terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, and financial offenses.

Mayor Alejandro Char and Metropolitan Police Commander Brigadier General Sandra Liliana Rodríguez Castro emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure the city does not become a refuge for international criminal actors. The new office provides specialized technological resources and meeting spaces to facilitate information exchange with foreign authorities and assist in the capture of individuals wanted by international justice systems.
