Colombian security forces capture two high‑ranking armed‑group members

The Colombian Army announced the capture of alias “Chivo,” a veteran commander of the Dagoberto Ramos residual faction of the former FARC, during a patrol on the Pan-American Highway in the Cauca department. Soldiers seized a pistol, ammunition, three mobile phones and about one million Colombian pesos, and handed the detainee over to judicial authorities.

In a separate operation in Santo Domingo, Antioquia, Army and police units apprehended three suspects linked to the Clan del Golfo, including alias “El Grillo,” identified as the gang’s financial coordinator. The raid yielded a handgun, two non‑lethal weapons, several smartphones, cash, a ledger of accounting records, more than 600 g of narcotics resembling bazuco and marijuana, and plastic bags used for drug packaging. The suspects were also placed under the custody of the judicial system.

Both actions are part of coordinated efforts by Colombian security forces to dismantle the leadership and financing structures of illegal armed groups operating in the country.
