Colombian taekwondo champion Juan Andrés García Amado to compete in Lima 2026 FISU Games

Juan Andrés García Amado, a 19‑year‑old veterinary medicine student at the University of Santander, earned a gold medal at the 2025 ASCUN National University Games and will represent Colombia in the taekwondo competition at the FISU America Games in Lima from 25‑26 July 2026. He combines two daily training sessions with a demanding academic schedule, emphasizing balance and long‑term consistency.

In Peru, the Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD) held a ceremony to honor the 41 athletes who won medals at the II Juegos Parasuramericanos Valledupar 2026 in Colombia. President of the IPD, Sergio Ludeña, highlighted the delegation’s 12 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze medals and reaffirmed support for the athletes as they prepare for the Parapan American Games in Lima 2027 and the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
