Colombian travelers and European hotels drive surge in sustainable tourism

A Booking.com survey found that 76% of Colombian travelers intend to take more sustainable trips within the next year. Among them, 59% want to cut travel‑related waste and 61% aim to avoid activities that could harm local wildlife, reflecting a shift toward environmentally responsible tourism.

Spanish hotel chain H10 Hotels reported progress under its "Stay Green" program, targeting carbon‑neutral operations by 2030. The company said its 2025 emissions are projected at 3.82 kg CO₂ per stay—a 10% reduction from 2024 and 60% lower than in 2010—thanks in part to sourcing 94% of electricity from renewable sources. Between late 2025 and early 2026, solar photovoltaic installations will be added to 14 hotels, further reducing the chain’s carbon footprint.
