San Luis Potosí authorities arrest suspect in death of Colombian woman
Authorities in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, have arrested a man identified as Juan “N” for the suspected femicide of Tatiana Vanessa Almanza García, a 32-year-old Colombian national. The victim had been reported missing on August 31 after losing contact with her family on August 25.
Investigators located Almanza García’s body in a state of advanced decomposition near Highway 80 in the municipality of Villa de Reyes on September 1. Forensic examinations indicate she was strangled and likely killed on August 28 at an establishment on Highway 57 in the state capital before her body was moved by vehicle.
Following official identification, her family is preparing to travel to Mexico to arrange for the repatriation of her remains to Colombia. The State Attorney General’s office confirmed that the suspect was apprehended following an analysis of video recordings from the area where the victim was last seen.
