Colombian woman turns neighborhood gossip into business

A woman in Armenia, Colombia, named Doña Myriam has turned neighborhood gossip into a profitable business. By observing her surroundings and maintaining detailed records in a notebook, she provides information to neighbors for a fee.

Prices for minor gossip range from 5,000 to 10,000 Colombian pesos. However, more sensitive information, such as details regarding alleged infidelities, can command much higher prices. Myriam reported receiving as much as 700,000 Colombian pesos (approximately 190 euros) from a man to keep a secret from his wife.

Myriam maintains a system of verification, noting specific times and dates to ensure accuracy. She also keeps a display in her home featuring photographs and information regarding local residents.
