Colombian youth and communities engage in tourism and heritage protection initiatives

In Boyacá, 280 young people from 18 municipalities have graduated as “Guardianes del Turismo” (Tourism Guardians). The certification follows a social service program conducted between February and October 2026, organized by the National Police, the Boyacá Governor's Office, and local mayors. The initiative, known as the Grupo Cívico Juvenil Guardianes del Turismo, provides youth with tools to protect and promote local tourism, visitors, and regional heritage.

In Neiva, the National Police and the Neiva Mayor's Office held the “Turismo y Dulzura” activity at the El Caracolí monument. The event focused on community engagement, safety recommendations for children during “Día Dulce,” and the preservation of cultural heritage. The program included educational activities and traditional Bambuco dance lessons to promote local culture and the conservation of the monument.
