Colombians rally around 2026 World Cup debut with street sales and new songs

In Bogotá, streets are awash in yellow as Colombians prepare for their national team's first World Cup appearance since 2018. Informal vendors line up around the capital, expecting a surge in shirt sales. "Las camisetas de Colombia aquí se mueven muchísimo, el comercio es demasiado," said vendor Fernando Osorio, who hopes the match against Uzbekistan will boost his earnings.

Fans, including young supporters like Rocío Villamizar, parade in national jerseys, while President Gustavo Petro urged citizens to wear the yellow shirt as a symbol for the whole country. The team’s star forward Luis Díaz is highlighted as a key figure for the tournament.

At the same time, Colombian musicians have joined the celebration. Carlos Vives launched the "La Fiebre Amarilla" campaign and several artists released the anthem "Te Quiero Ver Campeón" to rally supporters. These songs aim to accompany fans throughout the competition and reinforce national pride.
