Colombia's Barranquilla and Tolima host major August 2 running races
On 2 August, Barranquilla will stage the ninth edition of the Corremitierra race, offering 5 km, 10 km, 15 km and 21 km courses. Organisers Jorge Andrés Orozco and Cristy Martínez highlighted the event’s aim to promote active lifestyles, provide participants with a collectible medal, official shirt and free e‑books, and attract both national and international runners.
The same day, the fourth rural El Totumo race returns in the Tolima department, linking the towns of El Totumo and Rovira with 5 km and 10 km routes. Francy Liliana Salazar, manager of the departmental sports institute, said the race supports rural sport development, encourages healthy habits and stimulates the local economy through sports tourism. Both events are positioned as community‑building initiatives that celebrate sport and regional identity.
