Colombia's Council of State removes Meta Deputy Héctor Fabio Vélez Bermúdez

After rejecting requests for clarification and correction, the high court's decision stands, confirming the revocation of a previous ruling by the Administrative Tribunal of Meta.

The judicial process stemmed from actions attributed to Vélez Bermúdez during his tenure as president of the Meta Assembly. With the ruling now executed, his position for the 2024-2027 constitutional period is vacant. The seat is expected to be filled by David Barbosa, the former councilman of Villavicencio, following the electoral list order and necessary verification procedures.
