Colombia's JEP warns of AI-driven disinformation campaigns

The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in Colombia has issued a warning regarding a systematic campaign of disinformation and the abusive use of artificial intelligence targeting its magistrates and the institution. The tribunal stated that while legitimate criticism is permitted, false news and personal attacks threaten public debate and the separation of powers.

Addressing allegations of corruption and high costs, the JEP clarified that its budget represents only 0.14% of the National General Budget. The entity noted that seven audits from the Comptroller General and 14 reports from the Inspector General's Office have found no evidence of wrongdoing. The JEP also expressed opposition to a proposed budget reduction of 170,000 million pesos.
