Colombia's MinCiencias addresses university emergency and new council representation

The Colombian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MinCiencias) has activated a technical team to support universities affected by a recent emergency. Led by Minister Claudia Benavides Salazar, the team will evaluate damage to laboratories and research spaces to ensure the continuity of scientific processes and academic training.

In a separate development, Luis Fernando Múnera Congote, rector of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, has been elected as the representative for private universities to the National Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (CONACTI). The election aims to integrate private higher education institutions into the national agenda for science and technology, fostering collaboration between the government, industry, and academia to drive regional development and productivity.
