Colombia's Ministry of Mines and Energy rolls out new EV charging and grid‑resilience rules
The Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy issued Resolution 40334 to simplify the process for connecting public electric‑vehicle and plug‑in‑hybrid charging stations to the national electricity grid. The measure amends article 8 of Resolution 40559 (2025) and assigns the Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas (CREG) the task of defining the connection procedures for charge‑point operators. The resolution orders the Centro Nacional de Despacho (CND) to produce, within a year, a methodology for identifying system‑wide resilience gaps. It also sets technical criteria for redundancy, equipment protection, underground power lines, short‑circuit capacity and cybersecurity, giving CREG a 24‑month window to regulate the necessary technological upgrades.
