Colombia's MinTIC initiative expands digital talent through data analytics training

The Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MinTIC) implemented a free training initiative titled ‘Fundamentos en Analítica de Datos – DS4A’ to expand digital talent in the country. The program aimed to create an eligible pool of 5,000 Colombians interested in developing foundational data analytics skills.

To bridge the digital divide, the convocatoria included prioritization criteria for rural populations, women, ethnic groups, and residents of municipalities with lower categorization levels. The initiative was designed to meet the growing demand for workers capable of using and interpreting data to support decision-making across various sectors. Although the program was officially announced in October 2022 and has since concluded, its results reflect the evolution of Colombia’s digital skills policies.
