Colombia's National Land Agency probes illegal occupation of Islas del Rosario

The Agencia Nacional de Tierras (ANT) carried out an inspection of a property in the Islas del Rosario archipelago, near Cartagena, as part of an administrative process to determine whether the land is being occupied irregularly. During the visit, the agency reported that the tourist operator continued to bring visitors despite orders to suspend activities, and that tensions rose due to the presence of community members and staff, hampering the inspectors.

ANT noted that unauthorized works and improvements had been carried out on the site, which do not confer any legal right of ownership or possession. The agency reiterated that it will continue the administrative procedure, called for respect of authority decisions, and warned that non‑compliance could lead to sanctions under existing legislation.
