Colombia's National Mining Agency formalizes 44 mining titles

The National Mining Agency (ANM) has formalized 44 mining titles across 14 Colombian departments, including the delivery of six gold and platinum titles in the Chocó department. These titles were awarded to various community councils and traditional mining associations, such as the Consejo Comunitario de la Comunidad Negra de Tadó and Asominas Tadó, to provide legal backing for traditional extraction.

To ensure environmental and social standards, the ANM has mandated zero mercury use, structured social management plans, and mineral traceability to guarantee royalty returns to the departments.

Juan Camilo Valencia, president of the ANM, indicated that the sector is poised for significant growth. He noted that mining companies have requested double the amount of blasting caps (estopines) for 2027 compared to 2026, a figure 70% higher than any previous year in Indumil's history. This surge in demand suggests a projected doubling of mining production by 2027, supported by investments of approximately $54 billion for exploration in regions including Cesar, Antioquia, La Guajira, Tolima, and Huila.
