Colombia’s Police University officially inaugurated as public institution
The National Police of Colombia announced the official creation of the Universidad Policial de Colombia, granting it status as the country’s 36th public higher‑education institution. General William Oswaldo Rincón Zambrano, director of the police, highlighted the university’s nationwide reach with 29 campuses and an initial portfolio of 60 academic programs covering engineering, basic sciences, social sciences and humanities.
The university will also introduce Colombia’s first Doctorate in Security and Coexistence, aimed at strengthening research, innovation and professional training for police officers. The Ministry of Education is overseeing the approval process, and the institution is positioned to enhance the professionalization and academic development of the nation’s security forces.
