Colombia's Roller Skating Milestones at Central American and Caribbean Games

Colombia’s roller‑skating athletes have enjoyed a strong record at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Speed skating, which first appeared at the Games in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1993, has seen 38 Colombian competitors across eight editions, missing only the 1998 Maracaibo Games when the host nation lacked a national federation. Claudia Ruiz became the country’s first gold medallist, winning the 300‑metre race. Jorge Luis Cifuentes and Cecilia Baena lead the list of Colombian speed‑skating gold medallists with eight titles each, while Alexandra Vivas holds the most total medals – 14 (seven gold, seven silver) – and ties with Baena for most participations.

Artistic skating marks its third appearance at the Games. After debuting in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico in 2010, the discipline returned in Barranquilla, Colombia in 2018, where Valentina Apolinar and Juan Sebastián Lemus each secured a gold medal in the free‑style event. Five Colombian artistic skaters have competed to date, with Allison González emerging as the most decorated, earning two golds, three silvers and a bronze. The upcoming Games in Santo Domingo will also host the debut of skateboarding, the Olympic discipline of roller skating.
