Colombia's SENA offers free virtual tech courses for women

The Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) in Colombia has opened a series of free virtual courses aimed at boosting digital skills, particularly for women. The programmes, delivered through the Betowa platform, cover data visualization with Python, cybersecurity, programming and web design in Java, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, as well as advanced office tools. They form part of the "Mujeres Digitales" strategy, aligned with the country's gender‑equity policy and Conpes 4080, and seek to increase employability and reduce the gender gap in the technology sector.

SENA also offers a broader catalogue of free courses in areas ranging from programming and software development to tourism, agriculture and construction, available in virtual, hybrid or in‑person formats. Participants who complete the required modules receive official certification, intended to enhance job prospects and support Colombia's digital transformation.

The initiative is open to current SENA learners, alumni and any interested citizens, with enrollment conducted online and courses running year‑round on a flexible schedule.
