Colombia's SENA to receive historic 110% budget boost for 2027
The National Learning Service (SENA) in Colombia is slated to obtain the largest budget in its history, with a projected allocation of 8.51 billion pesos for the 2027 fiscal year – an increase of roughly 110 % over previous years. The funding surge is intended to expand enrollment capacity, modernize training facilities, and strengthen virtual learning platforms, especially in areas such as Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, automation and renewable energies. Additional resources will support entrepreneurship programs and improve links between apprentices and employers, reinforcing SENA’s role in supplying skilled workers to sectors like manufacturing, IT, agro‑industry, construction and logistics.
Created in 1957, SENA provides free technical, technological and complementary courses to millions of Colombians each year. The budget proposal, submitted to Congress in April 2026, marks a pivotal step toward meeting growing demand for vocational education and preparing the workforce for the country’s digital and productive transformation.
