Colombo Fire Department services Sri Lanka's economic hub

The Colombo Fire Department operates five stations plus a fire academy in Sri Lanka’s largest economic hub. The central station is the largest, staffed by approximately 60 to 65 firefighters working on a 24/72 shift schedule.

Due to the city's narrow streets and high density, the department utilizes various vehicles, including smaller-sized fire engines. Recent acquisitions include MAN vehicles with Austrian Rosenbauer bodies, though the department also utilizes brands like Volvo and Scania, reflecting historical influences from the former British colonial administration.
