Colombo Security Conclave maritime exercise concludes in Visakhapatnam

A three-day Table Top Exercise (TTX) organized under the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) concluded on September 12 at the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. The exercise involved maritime security experts and delegations from CSC member states and observer nations to simulate responses to non-traditional security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Participants engaged in intensive discussions regarding maritime terrorism, narcotics smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The sessions focused on reviewing existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and streamlining information-sharing arrangements to enhance collective Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA).

The initiative aligns with the MAHASAGAR vision for mutual and holistic advancement for security and growth across regions. Previous high-level meetings involving the Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have reinforced the commitment of these nations to regional stability and coordinated responses to threats that transcend national maritime boundaries.
