Colombo Stock Exchange and Commercial Bank partner for SME growth

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate enterprise growth and facilitate capital formation in Sri Lanka. The partnership focuses on making capital markets more accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and enhancing the broader corporate ecosystem.

Key initiatives under the agreement include creating structured channels to identify and onboard eligible businesses for listing, leveraging the bank’s client network, and conducting workshops and seminars to improve financial literacy. The Commercial Bank’s Investment Banking Unit will provide support to participating companies regarding capital-raising options, regulatory requirements, and readiness assessments.

By targeting underserved regions and sectors, the collaboration aims to increase market depth, diversify investment options, and promote greater inclusivity and diversity within the national financial ecosystem.
