Colomiers Rugby leaves X, joining trend of French rugby clubs exiting platform

Colomiers Rugby has announced its departure from the social media platform X, marking the latest in a growing trend among professional French rugby clubs to abandon the network.

Colomiers is the fifth professional rugby club to make this move, following Union Bordeaux Bègles, Clermont, Lyon, and Bayonne. The club has directed its supporters to follow its news via Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, BeReal, and its official website.

The decision has met with mixed reactions. While some supporters expressed frustration, citing the loss of a platform used by dedicated ultras, other clubs have cited the platform's environment as a primary reason for leaving. For instance, ASM Clermont's communications director noted that the platform's tone and the prevalence of hateful comments did not align with the club's values.
