Colonel Bienvenu Lamah Acquitted by Conakry Court of Appeal

Guinea's Court of Appeal in Conakry issued a verdict acquitting Colonel Bienvenu Lamah of charges related to the September 28, 2009 massacre. The defense hailed the decision as a "victory of justice" and noted that it ends nearly three years and eight months of detention for Lamah. Defense lawyer Me Zézé Kalivogui expressed gratitude and said the judgment confirms Lamah's innocence.

Conversely, the civil party’s counsel, Me Bernassa Dissimilimouno, announced plans to appeal the ruling, arguing that the judgment rests on a contested interpretation of the facts and legal texts. An appeal by the civil side would also trigger a public prosecutor’s appeal, potentially reopening the case before the same appellate court.
