Colonel Harland Sanders memorabilia set for auction in Shelbyville on July 28

A comprehensive collection of personal Colonel Harland Sanders artifacts will be auctioned at the Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on July 28. The items, many sourced from Blackwood Hall—the Sanders' former home where they lived for about 25 years—have been preserved by the Settle family, who bought the property directly from the Sanders in 1974, giving the collection an unusually clear provenance.

The auction, announced for 6 p.m. EDT, follows a public preview scheduled for July 27. Auctioneer Bill Menish emphasized that the pieces are not a collector’s assemblage but family‑kept items that “tell a story few people have ever had the opportunity to see.” The sale is expected to draw interest from museums, private collectors, franchise operators, food historians and Americana enthusiasts in the United States and abroad.
