Coloplast reports 82% operating profit surge amid strategic review

Coloplast reported a significant 82 percent increase in operating profit during its most recent quarter, marking one of its strongest growth periods in recent history. Despite this surge in profitability, the company's stock saw a slight decline on Nasdaq Copenhagen, closing at 418.60 DKK.

During an investor meeting following the Q3 results, analysts raised concerns regarding the sustainability of the company's long-term growth targets. Specifically, there is uncertainty about whether the ‘Impact4’ goal of 7-8 percent organic growth through 2029/30 remains realistic, as current growth is hovering between 5-6 percent. CEO Gavin Wood noted that he is currently evaluating the Impact4 strategy and will present the results of a strategic review at the annual report in November.

Management highlighted two primary strategic shifts: increasing resources and focus on the U.S. market, where growth has reached double digits in several areas, and transitioning the Kerecis/Biologics segment from outpatient to inpatient care. While CFO Anders Lønning-Skovgaard noted that U.S. Chronic Care and Urology are performing better than expected, he acknowledged that the Biologics segment is currently weighing on overall growth.
