Colorado activists oppose Initiative 195 while urging support for Global Fragility Reauthorization Act

Americans for Prosperity‑Colorado (AFP‑CO) Issue Committee announced a statewide voter‑education campaign to defeat Initiative 195, a ballot measure that would permanently weaken Colorado’s Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) and give the state government billions of dollars of additional spending authority. AFP‑CO Deputy State Director Brittany Trujillo warned, “Initiative 195 is not simply another ballot measure. It is one of the most serious threats to Colorado taxpayers… It puts future TABOR refunds at risk, expands government’s ability to spend billions more without meaningful accountability.”

In a separate letter to the editor, a Colorado resident urged Rep. Joe Neguse to back the Global Fragility Reauthorization Act, a bipartisan bill that would extend funding for the Prevention and Stabilization Fund and the Complex Crisis Fund. The legislation aims to help fragile regions such as Mozambique, coastal West Africa and Papua New Guinea, reducing the need for Colorado taxpayers to fund foreign aid directly while promoting global security and economic opportunities.
