Colorado AG Phil Weiser picks Lesley Dahlkemper as lieutenant governor

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced that Jefferson County Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper will be his running mate on the Democratic ticket for governor. The selection was made less than 100 days before the November general election and was introduced at the state party headquarters in Denver.

Dahlkemper, who is finishing her second term as a county commissioner and previously served as president of the Jefferson County School Board, was highlighted for her experience on issues such as the opioid crisis, water supply, wildfire risk, public safety and early‑childhood education. Weiser said her background in law‑enforcement collaboration and her work as chair of the Gateway to the Rockies Opioid Council give him confidence she can serve effectively as lieutenant governor.
