Colorado Survey Shows Widespread AI Adoption Despite Overhype Concerns
A recent study of Colorado residents found that 96% have tried artificial intelligence tools, and 86% now use them regularly. While 51% consider AI overhyped, 77% say it makes them lazier and 57% believe it weakens critical thinking. Despite these worries, 98% say AI is useful and 86% feel it improves their lives; 18% report it helps them earn money and 75% say it boosts productivity. Only 26% would be willing to pay for AI services, whereas 54% would stop using them if a fee were required. Trust in AI varies: 34% trust it more than social media, 14% more than journalists, 20% more than government agencies, 17% more than search engines, and 8% more than employers. The most common uses are obtaining information (90%), product comparison (54%), planning (51%) and health advice (42%).
