Stacker used data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Centers for Environmental Information to rank the warmest August months in Colorado and Oregon since 1895. The lists illustrate a long‑term warming trend that analysts attribute to climate change.
In Colorado, August 2020 posted the highest average temperature of 70.1 °F, with a monthly high of 86.4 °F and a low of 53.8 °F. In Oregon, the warmest August was 2022, averaging 70.4 °F, reaching 86.3 °F at its peak and dropping to 54.5 °F. Both states’ rankings include earlier hot months such as August 2000 in Colorado (69 °F average) and August 2017 in Oregon (69.6 °F average).
