Colorado Attorney General sues Donald Trump over Tina Peters case

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser has filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump following the former president's efforts to secure the release of Tina Peters. Peters, a former election official, was sentenced to nearly nine years in prison after being convicted on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to election interference.

According to Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, Peters facilitated unauthorized access to secure voting equipment and allowed an individual to copy proprietary software. The breach was discovered after data surfaced at a conference for election skeptics.

Attorney General Weiser stated that the lawsuit is a response to Trump using “bullying” and “threats to take away our sovereignty,” asserting that the president cannot dictate state decisions. The legal action follows Peters' conviction for crimes including obstruction and compromising voting machines.
